• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the formation of the first low-pressure area of the post-monsoon season over the Bay of Bengal around 13 October.
• An upper-air cyclonic circulation is expected to emerge over the north Andaman Sea by 12 October, which could lead to the development of this low-pressure system.

Impact & Risks

The low-pressure system could result in rainfall across Andhra Pradesh, particularly in coastal areas. If the system intensifies into a depression or deep depression, it may lead to more significant weather impacts, including heavy rainfall and potential flooding. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected in parts of Andhra Pradesh over the next two to three days. However, the exact track and intensity of the system remain uncertain at this stage.
